“Beautiful and inspiring, the Canterbury Jazz Mass is a marvelous addition to the rich repertoire of mass settings.  The jazz idiom draws us into worship in unexpected ways that challenge us to hear ancient texts anew, with a sense of wonder, joy, and deep celebration of the mystery at hand.  The improvisational nature of the idiom invites us to listen with a fresh openness that is both contemplative and spiritual; this is a powerful draw for many students on our campus seeking a means for a spiritual encounter that is beyond their conventional expectation of worship.  Theodicy presents us with finely crafted and excellently performed music that gives us all a new means to lift our collective voices in wonder, love, and praise.”

—Chad Winterfeldt, Ph.D. Cantor, Gustavus Adolphus College
